Bitter gourd is also known as bitter melon or karela, its scientific name is Momordica charantia and it belongs to Cucurbitaceae family. It is originated in India and introduced to China. It is widely used in India and tropical countries like China, Thailand, East Africa and Asia. It is the bitterest vegetable among all the vegetables.
