What are Piles?

If you experience pain, itching sensation along with swelling near anus it may be due to piles. Piles can be mainly due to unhealthy and low fibre diet, constipation, obesity and may also be caused due to sedentary life style.

Inflamed veins in or around the rectum and anus which causes discomfort and pain is called as piles. Piles are commonly referred as Haemorrhoids. Veins become swollen and inflamed due to pressure and enlarged varicose veins. Piles can be internal and external. Internal piles and external piles are two different types of piles. Internal piles are painless and may have bright red discharge during bowel movement and internal hemorrhoids from inside the anus i.e. back passage. External hemorrhoids or piles are painful and may lead to few complications, they form in the lower part of the anal i.e. back passage.

Some people may face the problem of piles strangulate. Piles can be cut off and may cause severe pain. In some cases thrombosis i.e. clots are formed inside the piles and causes intolerable pain and discomfort. In few rare cases, it may lead to pile cancer.
